You might have seen her around at art night or at other events in the R.G.V. Ether selling her crafts and/or doing henna art. Estefania Casas, or Simply Nia, is a Henna artist in the lower Rio Grande Valley scene who is a purely a self taught artist and crafter, learning everything she knows from her own research and through Youtube. She started her small business doing henna at art night in Harlingen, Texas 2019 and from then she has grown followers, friendships, and her small business. On the side, she has started helping out other small business owners by promoting and interviewing them in her small businesses blog.

Nia is born and raised in the small city of San Benito, TX. Her henna origins start from her getting her 1st henna tattoo at downtown Harlingen during market days. While also during her time as a daycare teacher she learned how to do small arts and crafts so she could craft with the kids she cared for. She would then learn to use her skills to make jewelry, charms, and art to sell. After a while, she researched on how to do henna via YouTube videos and other resources and started to table at events such Art Night at downtown Harlingen.

From art night she expanded to other markets in the RGV. Eventually she would team up with me as my business/market partner. We would do markets together as her doing henna tattoos and while I sold my crocheted hats. Not long after we decided to sign up for the Harlingen Bazaar. Together we split a booth (exactly in half) with her being the more darker, Halloween vibe and I being the light pastels and bright colors. The Wednesday Adam’s and Enid Sinclair of the Harlingen Bazaar….or so people would tell us. She sold her arts and crafts there while henna tattooing live for a little more than a year. We made LOTS of new friends and connections through that booth. While there she was nice enough to advertise the bazaar and the businesses within it by making promotion videos for the events they hosted and more. She would advance to interview the individual business owners, creating videos to spotlight them. This how the Small Business Blog was born.

The small business blog is an unpaid promotional blog to help out small businesses come into the light. She wanted to show the face behind the business, letting you get to know them and their origins on creating their business. The blog has been on a hiatus for sometime because she moved for the summer. She is back now in the RGV and I got the chance to interview Nia, she declares she would like to start the blog up again.

Simply Nia can be found now at The Lounge, a chill and relaxing beauty bar where you can get manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials, make overs, face paints, and more. She works there as a new nail tech, landing her first job from graduating UCAS cosmetology school (Congrats Nia!).
